My next animation is going to be centered around the cycle that we all go through in our life: go to school to go to college, go to college to get a job, get a job to retire, retire to enjoy the last twenty years of your life before you die. It is a bit gruesome, but oh well.
For this one, I'm changing things up a bit. I'm ditching my regular character for a more cartoony figure. I'll be focusing a lot more on shape keys and showing emotion, because that is quite important for the animation that I've planned out. I'm also going for a ruby pallet because I really want the colors to be intense.
Plot:
A girl is standing in front of the camera, all we see is her face. She's breathing heavily, she seems terrified of whatever is in front of her. The camera takes a slow pan and shows a multitude of diverging paths in front of her, with people walking them already, seemingly unworried.
She looks around and sees that she's the only one standing on this side, she hurriedly chooses a path and starts walking down it, yet she continues to look around at the other paths with a worried face, wondering if she made the wrong choice. The path is moving forward as well, but every one still walks.
As she continues, a series of buttons appear, some people appear to have less than others. She has to press certain ones or the path goes slower, and yet she has to press them before the path takes her beyond them. She realizes this when she misses a series of buttons and the path starts going slower, but she cannot go back to press them, the path has moved forward.
She relaxes a little and settles into a pace, but suddenly the path shoots up, making her unable to continue. She looks around at two people besides her, who have the same issue. A pole shoots up with a slot in the middle and a small red button on its side. She looks at the person to her left first, and then they both look to the person at their right. He removes a gold coin and inserts it into the slot. An elevator/block appears, he steps on and then shoots up. The main character looks at the person to her left, and then they both check their pockets. Finding nothing, the look at each other again before sighing and pressing the red button, a series of rungs appear and they start climbing up, they quickly realize that the person to the left has rungs that are further apart than hers.
They keep on climbing while simultaneously pressing more buttons similar to the ones they had to press when the path was horizontal. At the same time, there are little red buttons next to each rung they climb. Some time passes, and their struggle grows, when the person to her left casts her a defeated look before pressing the red button next to one of their rungs. The path instantly becomes horizontal at that level, and they continue on their path, leaving the main character to continue climbing the runs.
A short while later, the character has reached the top and continues to walk, pressing the buttons. She continues on but she is visibly tired. She has to continue pressing buttons, but it is harder and harder for her to do so. She stops and looks up, and is greeted by the night sky. There are stars everywhere, and it is beautiful. She gets distracted and she doesn't do anything for a while. But then the path begins to slow down again, and she has to continue pressing the buttons, ignoring the sky. Fade to black.
Next scene: She is nearing the end, and she has continued pressing the buttons. There is now a smile on her face, an eagerness to move on. And so she continues, until finally the path ends, and she can get off onto a regular plane. She gets off the path, and smiles. She looks up at the sky, breathes deeply, and continues on. She is walking, going to see what's next, when a familiar sight greets her. She seems to be back where she began, a multitude of paths in front of her, with people walking them, pressing buttons. She heaves a deep sigh, and goes to step onto a path. Before continuing on, she hesitates, she looks up at the night sky one last time and takes it in, knowing it is the last time she be seeing it for a while, and then steps onto the path. Fade to black.
