MP1 Reflections Blogpost

I think this marking went pretty well for everyone: I think everybody in the class has their own separate strengths and they were really able to hone them.

Alaina: This is the first time I've seen Alaina's work other than the occasional drawing, and I am very impressed by what she has been able to accomplish. She started off the marking period wanting to 3D model a drawing that she had made a while ago. She has started making the model in cycles and its turning out really well. I admire her attention to detail and I'd love to incorporate that into my work more as well.
Bakhshi: Bakhshi has started to explore some really interesting concepts into her art, such as chance and superstitions. Her work this marking period is centered around the theme of false reassurances and I love how she incorporated both 2D and 3D elements into her work. Bakhshi has truly found her niche and she's still experimenting, such as with some work she did over summer. The piece to the bears signs of layering. The whole thing carries a psychedelic nature, or the aesthetic that comes with 3D glasses, which is pretty cool.
Dylan: Dylan has been working on a documentary concerning the football team, and it's turning out pretty well. I think I'm most impressed by his use of establishing shots and how they set up the film. I would like to incorporate more establishing shots into my work as they provide more background information and help the pacing, which is something I'm still struggling with.

Sean: This was the first time that we read one of Sean's scripts, and it was pretty hilarious. I really admire Sean's ability to write such stories and develop his plot so well. He has the ability to write humor as well, which is pretty hard in my experience. I think the fact that he's able to create a full length story, make dynamic characters, and set up interesting environments is very reflective of his talent as a writer.
Vivian: Vivian has continued to work on her theme of looking inward, and her animation this time is turning out pretty well. She has a very interesting concept going: one picture a day. I really think that that is an amazing interesting way to convey her message and she is also able to show a time lapse to tell the story. I was also thinking of doing a time lapse later on which is why her method is very interesting to me. I also really like the story she is conveying. I think it is incredibly relevant to teenagers today with the pressure that comes from both school and social media. I also love how she's continuing with creating 3D pieces based off of her drawings.
