Boy this one's a doozy.
I downloaded it, I appended in the objects from my old 2.79 file, and I started down the journey.
For the most part, Blender 2.8 is pretty similar to 2.79. Of course, there are a few glaring differences: if I want to select something, I hit 'a'. However, if I want to deselect, I have to hit 'alt a' instead of just 'a' again, which is honestly kind of inconvenient, but oh well. I suppose the newest feature is that you can choose right-click instead of left-click, which I did and is ultimately yet another thing to get used to. Blender 2.8 is just a lot of small adjustments and getting used to. They also got rid of blender render completely and now have only eevee and cycles.
Right now, I am testing out both cycles and eevee. My current animation can only be made in cycles, so I appended all my objects in and have been working on creating a scene and getting familiar with materials. Cycles works the same: mix shaders and diffuse everything has remained as it was. Which is probably a good sign; I'll be able to complete my project comfortably as I am already familiar with cycles.
I also experimented with particle systems since, well, I am kinda obsessed with them. I figured it
would be a good test of eevee. I am pleasantly surprised with the result. Even when I increased the particle count to 20000, it didn't lag. This bodes very well for the future. I was also impressed by the shadows cast on the box by the hairs, it demonstrates a new level of detail regarding lighting.

I think Blender 2.8 is better in terms of rendering and processing power. I think once I am adjusted to it, I'll be just fine.
