Lately, I've been working on an animation I've tentatively called "Fall River", mostly because I could not think of anything else to call it. My idea for the animation was two girls rowing down, probably down the Conodoguinet because I see it everyday. The first thing I did was take care of the trees: I modeled one, and then used the sapling tree generator for the rest. I then created two types of leaves for the particle system groups.
I then created the terrain and added the trees as a particle system, which is when I faced my first problem: The leaves would not show up on the trees when both of the particles systems are active. With the help of a classmate, I found that to be able to see the leaves, I'll have to convert the particle systems on the trees to meshes; this will significantly slow down rendering time, but I'll burn that bridge when I get to it. The second main issue that I'm dealing with is the water: I decided to just add texture to a plane, but I don't remember how to do that and all the water tutorials need cycles so I'm trying to find the lighthouse animation, or the dragon animation.
I also made a canoe, because I figured they'd need that sort of thing to row down a river.
Then came the humans; I used the female model that I had made previously, and they turned out fine, but I don't really like them that much. I thought they might detract from their surroundings. As a solution, I thought of simplifying the figures. But then, I rendered the models and they looked much better. I still might change the eye shape to make them look a little less devoid of souls, I should also probably give them eyebrows at some point.
Rendered version of the characters, devoid of souls and eyes. |
I also hit alt z once accidentally and this was the result. I think it takes away all the shading and depth, turning them into flat models, which was pretty interesting to see, even though it took away the eyes on one of my models.
