As I have recently gained the position of student "3D Printer" person, I figured I'd do some research to familiarize myself with the inner workings of 3D printers. Of course, I have not yet opened a 3D printer to see what the machine looks like on the inside, but I have learned some of the more baser functions and maintenance tasks through the following videos.
This video is essentially an introduction to the Flashforge 3D Printer: it describes the printer, how it works, and what it can do. It also gave some interesting informations about different types of filaments and the fumes from the printer that I was not aware of before. The person describing the printer talks about how the printer head moves, the two extruders and how you can print with two different filament colors at once (which might be interesting to try out), and he has seemingly printed out some interesting things such as an elephant with bending legs.
The second video shows how to set up a 3D printer; it shows how to install filament, how to even out the printer bed, and some basic features of the printer as well. It serves as a good basic maintenance guide for relative beginners such as me.

These two images are pictures of the control board with and without labels. I recognize some of it from the brief electronics unit in physics last year, but the second picture helps clarify the exact functions of each piece, which is extremely helpful. Of course, they aren't the same exact model, but most of the parts are similar.
Of course, I'll be able to familiarize myself with the printer much more once I start working with it; however, based on my current knowledge, I think I have a good foundation to build upon once the work does start. I know that Blaze did some blogposts on the 3D printer and 3D printing in general last year, and I also might be able to learn more if I take a look at those.
Work Log:
Monday 9/2: Labor Day
Tuesday 9/3: Worked on animation
Wednesday 9/4: Worked on animation
Thursday 9/5: I scrapped everything and chose a new life path. Just kidding I worked on the animation
Friday 9/6: Worked on animation and talked with the sub a little, she seemed nice. Or was that thursday?
