Reflection Page MP2

Vivian - Vivian worked on and completed her animation this marking period, and it turned out well. The animation was based on her sketches and included interesting color combinations. These are something I aspire to do: sketching out the models and ideas of animations better familiarizes you with the concept as well as the end result. Additionally, I plan on incorporating colors more heavily into my future animations as well as giving them meaning. As such, Vivian's practices are very interesting to me. Her theme was looking inward, which is also going to be my theme after I finish the mythical creatures animation. Furthermore, Vivian incorporated arrays into her animation, which greatly interested me; I really want to explore some of the more technical things I can do with blender to create more organic forms, especially with particle systems, and arrays may help me in that prospect.

Bakhshi - Bakhshi, as always, executed her piece magnificently. She focused on two girls and decide to juxtapose them; she used environment, clothes, and most importantly, color. I keep on referring to the color theme, which is really something I want to focus on. Bakhshi maintained a pink-and-black dichotomy to show the differences in the two girls. Additionally, she also wanted to give the piece a more 2D-animation look, which is something I want to experiment with. Bakhshi has great energy and drive; she might be quiet, but she truly expresses herself through her art. She's very inspiring in terms of her work ethic and she isn't afraid to experiment, which is something I aspire to. She also started on a skeleton model this marking period, and it has turned out really well.

Keaton - Keaton typically does a lot of hard surface modeling, however, he's been experimenting with organic forms lately, and that--again--is something I want to experiment with. While he made some amazing guns, what interested me was the trees--he used a sapling modifier, which I have used before to limited success. This comes back to my desire to experiment more with some of blender's special features. He did a really cool set of trees and focused on the environment and aesthetic--I think it is a good idea to focus on specific parts of a piece to improve your skills. Additionally, he wanted to focus on photorealism, which is an interesting facet to explore--it certainly isn't the easiest thing to execute, but it certainly is a good thing to work on. I also really like the work he did with emission textures, as the look is very cool.

Sean - As Sean collaborated with Dylan again this MP, we got to see two edits of the same video, and it was truly interesting to see the difference between them. Sean found that he enjoyed the editing side of it all, and I kind want to involve myself in that process a bit more. Editing can really add quite a bit to any video, and what with me being an animation student, I haven't really been able to experiment with it. I would love to see what editing can add to an animation, especially when it is already something created entirely on a computer and without any base material.

Auburn - Auburn finished up her LGBTQ+ film and started on her one-woman show, which truly speaks to her pace. She clearly has an amazing work ethic, and she's kept a good pace throughout the year. I truly want to work on improving my pace and trying to do everything I want while also maintaining the aesthetic and integrity of the piece. Additionally, you could see the improvement of shots throughout her video and I believe that it is very important to have learned something on the other end of a project. Auburn is clearly developing and mastering her skills, which is truly an amazing thing to see.
