This week, I
have continued work on the mythical creatures series, and I decided it was
finally time to get some rough ideas down on paper: I created a very rough
story board and a clear shot that I knew I wanted in the video. I also thought
this would be a good idea as it would give me the opportunity to draw, a skill
which I am trying to improve upon.
The drawing
is a clear image of one of the shots I want in the video. It follows the rule
of thirds while maintaining a world-like view to it. At the bottom is the wolf
running on land, in the middle is the hippocampus swimming in the water, while
the top features the phoenix flying in the air. It is to be the defining shot
of the video and follows my integral idea of one land-bound creature, one
aquatic creature, and a creature of flight.
Rule Of Thirds Shot |
The
storyboard, albeit very rough, delineates the basic story I want the animation
to follow. I might change some things later on and I fully intend to create a
more detailed storyboard later, but I wanted to put some ideas down first.
The story I intend to create starts with a phoenix flying;
it then lands to eat something but is stopped by a sort of growling. It turns
its head to find a wolf; they both have a staring contest of sorts which is
interrupted by the hippocampus. The staring contest then expands to include the
new arrival, until they suddenly split: the phoenix flies to the sky, the
hippocampus goes back to the center of the ocean, and the wolf turns around. They
all line up, and then—maybe—at some sharp sound, they set off. I might include
some transitional moves and things, but the animation essentially fades to
black without a clear winner. The animation is turning out to be a sort of
introductory video, and I am not completely closed to the idea. However, I am
unsure as to whether I will follow it up with anything.
